This monumental group portrait brings together figures from the civic and cultural life of Chuhuiv gathered around a shared table. Rather than an official ceremonial image, the work conveys the atmosphere of a generation whose lives were deeply intertwined with the history of their region.
Maltsev conceived the composition as a collective portrait of his contemporaries - a visual chronicle of individuals united by common experience and by their time.
At some point, the painting left the artist’s family after being taken abroad for an exhibition. Its current whereabouts remain unknown. Despite this loss, the work survives within the documented legacy of the artist, preserved through archival photographs and family memory.
Today, the painting endures not through physical presence, but through remembrance - as both a work of art and a fragment of history.
